After working for almost fifteen years for some of the largest brokerage firms’ in the US, J. Dana Cowan made the decision to create his own investment advisory firm. J.D. Cowan & Company, LLC. Is founded on the principles of absolute independence from typical Wall Street and corporate bias, influence and focused on resolute transparency when working with clients. Rather than being a “representative of” or being encumbered with corporate or financial industry biases J. D. Cowan & Company LLC, is purposefully independent and contracts with numerous custodians and financial firms each firm focused on transparency and client service, to provide each client with the best fit for their specific needs. This sets us apart from other firms with only one or two broker relationships.
Dana offers decades of experience in the financial services industry, including 11 years in banking and nearly 20 years as an insurance investment representative.
As a graduate of Boise State University’s College of Business and Economics (GO BRONCOS!), Dana holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Economics with a minor in Finance and a Masters of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies concentrating on Behavioral Economics.
Dana is a multi-generation Idaho native. His great grandfather, Adam R. Campbell settled in the Bancroft area near Bear Lake in 1864 (before Idaho was a State). Dana learned to ski by the age of eight and spent many of his early years enjoying the slopes at Bogus Basin and other ski resorts here in central Idaho. He enjoys spending time with his five children by firing up the backyard smoker and cooking ribs, baking whole wheat bread (a recipe of his grandma’s) and making homemade BBQ sauce.
